The company operates in four offices in Germany and a branch in Belgrade, Serbia, established in 2022 to support SEE markets. Through executive search as core business, Dr. Heimeier advises companies of diverse industry sectors and sizes and supports them in the search and selection process of key roles.
Our client is a global company, operating in Serbia as one of several global production locations. The company is headquartered in Germany and there are more than 20 sales branches worldwide. Serbian plant has been established with large investments in the production site, machines and environmental protection, in line with the emphasis that the company gives to sustainability topic. The basic idea of the investment is Serbia is long-term presence and a strategic approach to all future plans and activities.
Our client produces end consumer products and is famous for several luxury and premium brands. Production process includes automated and manual processes, including casting, CNC machining, manual processing, etc. Further growth of local operation and headcount will take place in the following period.
As a Segment Leader for Machining, your role is pivotal in overseeing manufacturing process of grinding and polishing operations. This includes planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Your will lead a team of around 100 people, and your direct reports will be Production Supervisors. Your reporting line goes to Senior Production Manager.
 
Main tasks and responsibilities:
  • Process Management: ensure efficient operation of Machining, Grinding and Polishing Department; develop and optimize processes to improve productivity and quality; controlling and monitoring production processes and standards; implement safety protocols and ensure adherence to regulations
  • Team Supervision: lead a team of operators and technicians in a high-volume production environment; ensure Onboarding plan is on place for new team members and that all team members are competent in their roles after trainings are completed; train new employees on equipment operation and safety procedures in department; ensuring the team adheres to production schedules and deadlines; provide guidance and support to ensure smooth production flow
  • Quality Control: monitor product quality throughout the production process; implement quality assurance measures to meet specifications; address any quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions
  • Inventory and Logistics: coordinate with logistics and supply chain departments to manage raw materials and finished goods; optimize inventory levels to meet production demands without overstocking
  • Continuous Improvement: identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction; implement lean manufacturing principles to streamline operations; foster a culture of continuous improvement among team members
  • Reporting and Documentation: maintain production records and prepare reports for management team; analyze production data to track KPIs and identify trends
 
Professional qualifications:
  • Degree within technical field or comparable practical qualification
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a production team leading role (Segment Leader, Team Leader, Production Supervisor, Shift Leader, or similar) within a multinational production company in Serbia, preferably machining
  • Previous experience within grinding and polishing operations will be additional plus
  • Leadership/supervisory experience is a must, preferable exposure in leading teams of 100+ people
  • Good understanding of machining, equipment and maintenance
  • Native in Serbian, fluent in English
